St. Thomas More v. Pewaukee [9/29]

The St. Thomas More boys soccer teams took on Pewaukee Monday at Croatian Park. Both games started at 4:30. The JV game was dominated by STM, but they had problems finishing. Finally late in the first half they got there first goal and the first goal Pris (sorry Pris I don't know what your last name is). The boys went into half time up 1-0. Over on the Varsity field the boys weren't doing as well as the JV team. they got scored on twice in the first half and went into half time down 2-0. The second started for both teams, on the JV side the Pewaukee team seemed to come out with a different attitude and they were outplaying the JV. Pewaukee got a goal early in the second half to tie the game, and that's how it would stay. The JV boys tying once again. There record 3-1-4 (3-0-3).

St. Thomas More 1 0-1
Pewaukee 0 1-1

On the varsity side the second half was much like the first half and the boys lost 3-0. There record now 6-8 (2-4).

St. Thomas More 0 0-0
Pewaukee 2 1-3

Better luck next time both teams and good luck against Greendale Wednesday.

St. Thomas More @ Wauwatosa West [9/24]

The St. Thomas More boys were at Wauwatosa tonight.  A big game for the JV, playing the 1st place team in the conference and the Varsity game was a game of the week on JsOnline.com, and the boys were trying to prove there better then they have played lately.  The JV game was first and because of the team getting there late the halves were only 30 minutes, but that didn't matter to the JV.  The game started with no surprises, then with about 10 minutes left in the half Tosa scored first on a little tap in.  Half time came and went and the last 30 minutes of the game began.  Quickley the JV team seemed to be playing much better then the first half.  Then about 15 minutes in Enrique Murguia scored on little tap in making the score 1-1, and that's how it would stay.  The boys record is now 3-1-3 (3-0-2).

Next up was the varsity game.  The game started quickly and Tosa was first on the board with a goal by there phenomonel forward.  Thomas More didn't screw around and a few minutes later Luis Esquiveal scored tying the game at one a piece.  The game went on and late in the first half Tosa got another goal from there forward putting them up 2-1.  Half time came and the boys knew they could win the game.  They came out and got two goals one by Luis Esquiveal, his sencond, and own goal.  The boys  proved that they were much better then they had been playing. Great game boys!!!! There record is now 6-7 (2-3).

Good luck to the freshmen team tomorrow against Tosa West!!!!

And hope too see Brad Vagjert back and well soon!!!!

St. Thomas More v. New Berlin Esienhower [9/22]

The St. Thomas More JV soccer team is still undefeated in conference!!! The boys had an impressive 2-1 victory over the Esienhower team that had defeated tehn 7-0 last year in a blow out. The boys got a first half goal from Connor Jonas. They went into half time leading the Lions 1-0. The second half started and the Lions added a goal quick on an impressive shot. The score was now 1-1. They second half went on, finally with 5 minutes left in the game Jake Key played a ball to James Komorowski who finished with the ball hitting the back of the net. The St. Thomas More JV boys won the game 2-1. They got great goalie play from freshmen goalie John Stahr. Great job boys.
St. Thomas More 3-1-2 (3-0-1)

St. Thomas More 1 1-2
NW Eisenhower 0 1-1

The St. Thomas More boys varsity wasn't as successful. They played a tough game, but like the other games they lost by low margains it was because they couldn't finish. They played a tough first half with neither team losing. Then in the second half Eisenhower got a beak away. It looked like Dan Hansen had it, but it slipped out his hands and a New Berlin player tapped it in. A heart breaking lose for the highly touted team that just can't seem to get any goals these days. Good luck next time boys!!!!!

The St. Thomas More soccer team was going to Brown Deer on Wednesday and expecting a victory. Not too much to say about these games. The JV team won 7-0 on 5 goals in the first half. The 1st by Cal Branger, 2nd by Nathan Karabon, 3rd by Luis Gagos, 4th by Jake Key and 5th by Brad Vagert. In the second half the added 2 more. Luis Gagos got his second goal and the other goal was by James Komoroski. Erik Caballero got his 2nd shutout. In the varsity game TMore controlled the game. They won 2-0 on two goals by midfielder Jose Roque. Great job both teams.
The freshmen team had a home against Franklin at the Cousins Center and wasn't as lucky as the JV and Varsity, they lost 2-0. Great job all teams and good luck to the Varsity when they take on Milwaukee King tomorrow at Pulaski Stadium. Pictures of the JV team will be up soon. St. Thomas More @ Shorewood [9/15/08]

The St. Thomas More Cavilers JV and Varsity soccer game was moved from Croatian Park (STM's home field) to the brand new turf stadium at Shorewood. The JV was first to play at 4:30 against the unknown Shorewood JV team. Last year the JV game between the two teams was cancelled because of weather. Well the game started with the JV players playing on turf for the first time. The game was going pretty quickly when in about the 20th minute James Komorowski got the ball in the Shorewood box, he made a cut inside and chipped the Shorewood goalie with a left footed shot. The game went on and at half time the Thomas More JV team was leading 1-0. The second half started and the Shorewood JV had a new, inordinately large player come into the game. About 10 minutes in this large player got the ball and immediately shot and made the goal. The game was now tied at one. The game went on still tied. Then in the 76th minute Thomas More had the ball in the Shorewood box. The ball just kept flying around when finally Luis Goagos got a head on the ball and it hit the back of the net. Thomas More was up 2-1 and that's how it would end. Thomas More JV team getting there first victory in 4 games. There record is now 1-1-2 (1-0-1).
Next up was the St. Thomas More verse Shorewood varsity game. Last year Thomas More had won on a late second half goal by Matt Cheaney that had actually hit off the poll on the back of the net and went in the goal under the net. Thomas More won the game 1-0. This year there match up was a little different from last years. Like the JV team, most of the varsity players had little experience with turf. Shorewood was first to score in the game in the 17th minute. A few minutes later Thomas More added a goal by Luis Esquiveal in the 25th minute. The game was tied 1-1 going into half time. Thomas More felt good and thought that they would be getting there first conference victory. Half time ended and the game resumed. Shorewood got on the board quickly with a goal in the 45th minute.Shorewood was now leading 2-1. Thomas More's Luis Esquiveal got his second yellow card of the game and was ejected. Shorewood added another goal in the 78th minute and that's how the game would end. St. Thomas More stull without a conference victory. Record 4-5 (0-2)

Next Up: Jv and Varsity play Brown Deer on Wednesday at Brown Deer at 4:30
The freshmen play Franklin at 4:30 at the Cousins Center.

NEW STM BOYS SOCCER BLOG

This is a brand new blog created by JV forward Cal Branger. I decided to make this blog to relay information to players, students, and parents, that are interested in the boys soccer team at St. Thomas More. This blog will include rosters, standings, statistics, game and practice information, and whatever else people would like to have posted about the soccer team. If you have any ideas or would like to help with the blog please contact me via email; cbranger4@gmail.com.

Week Recap [9/8- 9/12]

We had a long week with the boys soccer teams at St. Thomas More. Wednesday the JV and Varsity had games against New Berlin West,at New Berlin West and the Freshmen were playing at Grafton. The freshmen won there game 3-1 on goals by Riley, Sterling, and Alex. The JV played a tough 0-0 game and the varsity lost to the strong New Berlin Varsity team 2-0. Tuesday we had practice again with JV asking themselves why they couldn't score and the varsity thinking about a blowing Wisconsin Luthern the next night. Thursday came and players on both JV and Varsity went to school with there uniforms on ready to beat the weak Wisconsin Luthern team that had embarrassed the varsity team at the Cudahy Classic a few weeks before. Three o'clock came and the bus left for Wisco. The bus arrived around 3:45 and the jv game began at 4:30 sharp. The jv started out dominating the young Wisco team. Finally at the end of the first half the jv got there first goal of the season by Connor Jonas. The jv team went into halftime leading 1-0 and feeling good. The second half began and still the jv team was dominating but, about 10 minutes in Wisco got a goal and a little miscommunication and the game was tied up at 1-1. And that's how it would end. The jv team tied once again. Next it was the varsity's turn to play and show the Wisco team that the game at the Cudahy Classic was a joke. They did just that. They got an early goal from forward John DonDero, later the first half they got a goal from midfielder Miguel Frias. The Thomas More team went into halftime leading 2-0 but they weren't finished. They added to more goals in the second half from Miguel Frias (his second) and Freshmen Luis "Boca" Esquvial. The final was Thomas More 4- Wisconsin Luthern 1. Overall it was an okay week for the Thomas More boys soccer teams. Next games are on Monday at Croatian Park against Shorwood, JV and Varsity.
